Now I like doing my nails just as much as the next girl but San Francisco based, 23 year old Ashely Sade, takes nail art to a whole 'nother level- the PIMP level that is! I was lucky enough to get a quick interview in & share the good sheeeiiiittt with you all!

Hey Ashely! Let's start at the beginning- when did you realise you have a talent for nail art & how did you get into it?
I actually didn't know I had a talent for nail art! It started when I first met my boyfriend, it was during the beginning of our 'talking phase' & I was tryna be all fancy with everything did, but that sh*t ain't cheap! Plus basic designs weren't the business, from there on I started building up my collection of nail varnishes & put my ass to work! It literally turned from impressing a boy, to an obsession with having my nails did all the time, to an actual hustle! Plus it helps being artistic & always having a mind full of creative ideas!

Now your designs are very unique, where do you find inspiration for them?
I honestly get inspired from anything & everything. It could be a music video, tv show, a colourway from a Jordon sneaker, magazine ad', clothing prints etc- you name it, I'll do it. I'm down for the outlandish sh*t, any random ideas that come to mind , I type them in my Blackberry notes or make a quick sketch of it. I swear to heyseuse I got A.D.D with themes- my 'nails to-do' list is hella long!

Haha! I can imagine! So tell me, what other talents do you possess?........
I just might be...... a triple threat & then some when it comes to creativity! Not only do I have bars in nail art, but I also do hair, make up & paintings. On top I'm a fashion design grad'! I'm kinda like the 'Jill' of all trades! But one thing a lot of people don't know is, all of these beauty skills are self taught. I've never been to Cosmetology school- although I still plan & dream to. I just get as much practice in as I can & I'm fortunate enough to have a lot of clients who believe in me.

You're obviously in demand then! Where do you find the time to fit it all in?!
Haha! I ask myself that a lot! I guess when you have a passion for something so bad, you'll find the time to go for it. I'm all for the rise & grind, no days off type of bullsh*t.

Amen to that! Does all this money making feed your Hellz Bellz addiction?! Haha! How about a co-lab? Some Hellz Bellz nails to go?!
Yes! I abso-f*ckin-lutely love, love, love, LOVE Hellz Bellz! & I'm sure the whole damn staff knows it lol! Getting 'in there' would make me die- I'd love to! Hopefully Lanie (Hellz Bellz founder) sees this somewhere! There are definitely some ASADE X Hellz Bellz themed nails coming soon! I did design some HBIC ones inspired from MISS 'a woman's work' photoshoot though.

Lastly, any future projects/aspirations? ASADE nail/beauty bars maybe?
TONS of art projects that is. Between my full time job as an administrative assistant & my art$y side hustle, I have a lot to handle- most def' ain't mad at that! But just keep following my blog & I will do my best to keep the world updated in what ASADE has in store! :)

my boyfriend has the illest plug. with me, this nigga endlessly gets paintings for life! im lightweight jealous that every piece ive created on canvas - he's got it. whatevs, once when we make our official move, they'll be "OURS" lol. im sure all yall already know our home will be on some steezy art gallery shit. anyway, im currently working on a jordan collage. the plan is to paint 23 different jordans on 10x10 canvases & right now im presenting #2, the OG jordan 6s.

hellz belle, sneakerhead, a lil hood, & hella bay.



Growing up, I always listened to:
hip hop r&b. right now, you‘ll catch me slappin‘ hella drake, lil wayne, & all young money shit.

I really look up to:
the HBIC of hellz bellz, lanie alabanza-barcena. shes so fuckn dope! her steez & designs are ill. she’s just overall my biggest inspiration/idol. i love her!



I got my start doing nails:
it started a year & a half ago, when i first met my boyfriend. you know, the “talkin’ phase” where you feel like you gotta be fly as shit & look your best? yeeeeaaah. i wanted to be that bad bitch; swagger right & nails always did. keeping up at the nail salon eventually started hurtin’ my pockets, plus their designs were wack! id bring in photos of nail art & they could never do it. their cheetah prints would even look like retarded ass polka dots lol. so then the recessionista got in me. told myself to fuck the shop; im creative, ill do my own shit.



I describe it as:
shit you wouldn’t see at your typical “miss kim or linda’s hair & nails” salon.






My designs are inspired by:
anything and everything! im a knock when it comes to ideas & i also try include my readers by taking their requests too. ive created nail designs from sneakers, fafi, hello kitty, starbucks, lady gaga, & the list goes on. the more crazy, tacky, different, creative, THE BETTER.

My recent favorite design I’ve created:

Nails (celebrity or not / dead + alive) I’d love to work on (what would they look like?):

if I could do ANY celebrities nails, that’ll be dope! & of course, they’d look like some ASADE shit ;]

Apart from doing nails, I rock at:

The most challenging thing about being a nail artist:

having the title as a “nail artist” grew from just a hobby to literally a side hustle. which means, i never went to school or had any proper training for it. i cant do shop work like acrylics, gels, fills etc. but most shops cant do half the shit i can, either. it’s a win-lose situation.

The thing I love the most about doing nails:

theres endless ideas to create & i never have to pay to get my shit done.

Best nail trend:

im a huge fan of japanese super kawaii nail art. i love everything ridiculous about it!

Worst nail trend:

i wouldn’t say worst, but i mos def don’t care for shit like french tips. its just plain boring to me, sorry.

Nail art techniques on making 3D gems stick:

i apply clear nail polish & quickly place my 3D charms on asap! then just to be extra sure, more coats of clear polish, hardener, & top coat. that way, its definitely going no where.

I’m currently working on:

jordan 6’s, painting.

So far the experience has been:

amazing. i feel blessed.

The last thing I stole was:

haha, ill only put myself on blast for this one cuz its relevant to “nail talk.” 2 bottles of nail polish from walmart, cuz i originally came there for some other shit & i just didn’t feel like paying for it =X

One thing people don’t know about me:

mama: black, creole, cherokee pops: filipino, spanish.

One thing that I haven’t done that I want to do:

travel the world! or shit, at least OUT the country.

I’ll know I’ve made it when:

office 9-5’s don’t exist & the only grindin’ i have to do, is shit i love to do.
